The younger sibling to the famous Van Staal VSX reel, the Van Staal VR series spinning reel is completely sealed and durable, but designed to be lighter in weight. Each reel comes with a manual bail and a bail-less conversion kit .

Improvements made for the latest model include athicker stainless steel main shaft , which reduces the flex of the reel under loadwhen battling ahard-fighting fish. Improvements have also been made to the waterproof sealing, and the drag knob has been made larger to make it easier to adjust with gloves on. Additionally, a lefty model has been introduced, designated by the 1 in their model number (VR51, VR151, VR201).
